Our Process

When working with Ray of Light craftsmen, you can count on the utmost professionalism and respect towards you and your home. We know how important it is for you to understand our process from start to finish. Here’s what you can expect when working with us:

Design Consultation

Our knowledgeable Design Consultant’s begin each project to carefully learn your goals and offer specific recommendations. Whether you have a clear design vision or are seeking a professional’s perspective, we will be there to listen and offer guidance. Ray of Light also welcomes the opportunity to work with your interior designer.

Work Estimate

At the end of your consultation you’ll receive a written estimate of work. Because we pride ourselves on offering affordable elegance, our prices reflect our goal to deliver quality work at a reasonable price.

Service Contract

Once Client accepts our work estimate, together we’ll sign a service contract. At that time we will collect 50% to confirm dates.

Schedule Work

We’ll plan the project to fit your schedule and timelines as best as possible. Most Ray of Light projects from start to finish take an average of  20 – 30 working days to complete, meaning minimal disruption and quick results.

Cabinet Refinishing

Step 1. Remove all of the doors and drawer fronts from your cabinets (2 – 4 hours)

Step 2. In shop:  We strip and sand, the doors and drawer faces to bare wood, then finish with an oil based wiping stain or colored lacquer paint (approximately 20 working days).

Step 3. In home: Prep all of each area and then we will strip and sand the frames and sides of cabinet uppers and lowers to bare wood, then finish them in the same color of stain or lacquer as the doors and drawer faces. On the last day we will install the doors and drawer faces. (approximately 7 – 10 working days)

 

Cabinet Refacing

Step 1: take final measurements and make the doors/drawer fronts.

Step 2: finish the new doors and drawer fronts in an oil base wiping stain or colored lacquer paint.

Step 3: reface cabinet fronts and sides/or refinish cabinet fronts and sides, whichever is appropriate for the final results.

Client Walkthrough

Your satisfaction with our work is extremely important to us. Before we leave, we escort you on a walkthrough of all work completed. At this time you are invited to voice any concerns which we will address promptly. We’ll also recommend cleaning and maintenance tips for all of your newly refinished cabinets.
